Flash Lights

Flash Lights

Description:  These man overboard beacons are once again used for the safety of life at sea, They flash when switched on or some come on automatically when immersed in water, The "off white" one is very old indeed and we suspect that this one was transferred from Gipsy Moth IV to Gipsy Moth V - these are attached to a lifebuoy which was placed near the cockpit. On many single-handed voyages these are stowed below decks as they are of little use, because normally the beacons and the lifebuoy are used to throw to a person who has fallen over the side. When single-handed sailing, if you fall overboard, there is no one left to throw you a lifebuoy !!
