Introduction

The Gipsy Moth collection of artifacts is from the legendry Gipsy Moth V which was shipwrecked in Australia in 1982 on an around the world voyage.  The skipper Desmond Hampton managed to rescue himself so no loss of life took place. Various items were salvaged from the vessel and those items have inspired this collection and exhibition.  Please enjoy this tribute to Sir Francis and his remarkable story

Shipwrecked in Australia Gipsy Moth V broke up soon after

This historic collection represents items formerly used onboard Sir Francis Chichester's Gipsy Moth V and is the only known collection and exhibition of its kind in the world that will be available to purchase by Private Treaty.  We hope that the items will benefit one or more of the world's finest museums for permanent display North or South of the Equator, or a private collector may wish to purchase it to allow viewing by the public for future generations.
