Flagon

Water Flagon

Description:  This flagon has been traced back to the days when Sir Francis would pull into Spain and Portugal. Unopened, we have yet to find a way inside this item, as it is a bottle within a bottle, It feels full, (but isn't) and it has some weight so we have yet to work out how it opens. We think it splits apart but we are reluctant to try, so if anyone knows how this opens, please send us the instructions. What we do know is that it comes from the 1960s or 19/70s, but establishing its origin is still a matter of research.

The Gipsy Moth historic collection is offered for sale at $200,000 USD

Sir Francis Chichester would take his yachts to Portugal on many occasions to await the weather for a transatlantic passage, and to stock up and provision his vessel. This water bottle was just one of the many items that was kept onboard, The flagon has Setbul stamped on the top with Aguada Bela Vista and may have been kept for emergency rations.
