ITEMS FROM THE WORLD
FAMOUS
GIPSY MOTH
Sailed By the Late
Sir Francis Chichester
The
Gipsy Moth collection of artefacts is from the
legendary Gipsy Moth V which was shipwrecked in Australia in 1982 on an around
the world voyage. Various items were salvaged from the vessel and have been
held by a private collector for years. These items have inspired this
collection and exhibition.
This historic collection represents items formerly used onboard Sir Francis
Chichester's
Gipsy Moth it is the only known collection of its kind in the world that
will be available to purchase by Private Treaty. We hope that the items
will benefit one or more of the world's
finest museums for permanent display North or South of the Equator, or a
private collector may wish to purchase the collection allow the collection
to viewed from time to time by the public for future generations.
Arguably the most historic item in this collection is the name dodger which
may well be the only original name plate of significance left in the world.
We would class the lifebuoy which we understand was painted by the hand of
Sir Francis, as "artwork”
The asking price of the items can qualify for a charitable deduction.
Please enjoy this tribute to Sir Francis and his remarkable story and pass
on this historic note to those most interested.
