Flare Canister or Grab Bag/pack

The Canister

Description:  Bag or Flare canister, is generally kept close to the cockpit of a sailing yacht so that it can be grabbed in emergency, It might be close to the life-raft, It is generally water tight so that the flares are protected from the elements and any water or food stuffs are preserved.

The Gipsy Moth historic collection is offered for sale at $200,000 USD

This type of canister is used to hold items like flares or survival gear that is grabbed at the last moment before abandoning ship – It could contain anything that the serious mariner would like to have, some food supplies, batteries for a torch, signaling devices, high energy chocolate. Depending where a sailor sails his “Grab bag contents may change”
